After a good and a little unrealistic night, I spent the sunday in the Kambuku lodge in of the suburbs of Lilongwe.
Around 4.30 PM I take an hike around the neibourhood.
Area 10 is a beautiful district with splendid old trees, except the fact that all the houses are surrounded by walls of stone and
signs of tremendous looking dogs.
Outside the area the real Malawi starts immediately. Down the dusty path people run quietly homewards.
On a crossingpoint a group of young men and women stands around an old oilbarrel which serves as barbeque, fried casava
to eat.
Of course I buy also a number of pieces. An old newspaper serves as bag and some impressions of the local news
are consumed.
Malawians chat, joke, beat each other in the hands and their high, shrill laugh is far to hear.
It gives me a special feeling.
If the sun is going down, small freight carriages full with watchmen drive into the rich district. Helmeted men in uniform
and armed with mobilofones and weapon sticks take possession of the district. They serve the rich of Lilongwe and provide them
a good night rest.
Satisfied I return home to Mr. Jozef, the old pleasant garden man.

Suddenly I stand for the customs on Kamuzu international airport in Lilongwe.
There is no spot on the ground where the stamps are beaten in your passport with so much violence.
My heart seems to pulsate in the same rythm as the sound made by the stamper.
I frequently stood for this counter, always a bit nervous. But now it is different. This is the last step before the Livingstone
Expedition becomes reality.
With 32 kilogrammes of hand luggage I walk into Malawi.
